Hey, y'all!! I know I'm not doing well with keeping y'all updated on things. A lot of people have expressed that they would love to follow us on our wedding journey and I've been slackin' as far as writing in this blog!
Let me start by saying that planning a wedding is *no joke!* It's hard work! Especially when Ry is so far away and we're on two totally different time zones. Plus, I get it, he's a boy! They don't want to talk wedding 24/7. Whenever we have the chance to line up our busy schedules to chat we just want to talk about how each other are doing. It will totally be nice to have him home to get his opinion on some things though! ;)
Call me crazy, but I'm not like other girls in that I HATE the planning process. (& that's one gene that skipped right over me in my family because my mom/sisters *love* it!) I'm more of the I'll-tell-you-what-I-want, you-create-it, &-I'll-show-up kind of girl ;) So, we decided to go with a venue where I could tell them my vision and they would create it. That starts with the decor and goes all the way to the food. Needless to say, that's my kind of place for sure!!
Yes, I've gone dress shopping, & yes, I've found "the dress!" I absolutely love it. It's not what anyone, even me, would have expected, but it's SO right!! Now my bridesmaids and I are on the hunt for the perfect dresses for them ;) They all have *totally* different body types, so, they can all make the same dress look different-I LOVE it!!
Right now I'm hard at work on my Save-the-Dates. Man!! Street numbers, states, and zip codes, oh my! They're spinning around in my head hehe. Speaking of our guest list, it's SO hard to build one. We can only invite 100 guests to our venue, and while that may seem like a lot, it's REALLY not. That is literally room for our family and VERY closest friends-that's it! I have a hard time with wanting to include EVERYONE because I don't want feelings hurt, so this is hard for me! We even had to take out all kids except for our nieces/nephews because we are literally packed out on the list. The guest list is by far the hardest thing I've done thus far!
Anyways, update on our lives other than the wedding-Ry comes home SOON, *very* soon! & I, of course, could not be more ecstatic. Thank GOD this year is almost over! I love and appreciate what he does for this country, but it's super hard to let go at the same time. I have mad respect for the fellow spouses who go through the same thing I do for their loved one in the military. Me? I've applied for tons, and I mean TONS, of professional jobs. Nothin' yet. I keep letting myself get discouraged and then I have to remind myself that God has bigger plans for me than I have for myself. It will come. I just have to be patient...yep, you heard me, I just said "I" and "patient" in the same sentence ;)
I have been attending a new church, 12 Stone, for about 5 months now and I absolutely LOVE it. I've never felt more at home/ease at a church. The people there are so loving and inviting and they literally act like they've known you forever. I can't wait to dig my hands in deeper and get more involved in the activities and groups that they have. Super exciting time!!
Well, I better get back to life! I promise I'll try to update more!! In the meantime, make sure you check out our wedding website and sign our guestbook!! www.BratekAndHanson.ourwedding.com
